Please find enclosed our grant proposal link to a very exciting and inclusive community based project designed to help ICON increase the community engagement and involvement in many ways. This proposal is a collaboration between Preps ICONPLUS and PICONBELLO who will work tirelessly to ensure a successful delivery and maintenance of this initiative.
This will be a non-profit public project, made by the community for the community where we kept the cost to a minimum as detailed in the proposal and our transparent handling process.

Review Comments

  • This is an exciting idea, but we unfortunately decided not to approve in the current form and perhaps reapply at a later date after considering our feedback. We always like the collaboration aspect between P-Reps. We like what the project is trying to achieve. However, we believe this idea could be improved as we’ve seen in the past in crypto and other industries like gaming that such a product is not sustainable in the long term.
  • First, incentivizing users with money undoubtedly creates a short-term boost. But, we believe it’s not the best way to create a long-term, loyal user base. Conversion to long-term users for such marketing is low as well.
  • Secondly, the project’s continuity is dependent on $6,000 support from the ICON Foundation every month, which we cannot commit to.
  • This product is best for a marketing campaign to send out a specific message to the masses regardless of a target audience. ICON Foundation may want to use such a product from time to time, but we don’t believe that we’ll need it consistently.
  • We believe this idea can perhaps be developed into a bigger idea. For example, perhaps this could be a general marketing platform that anyone can pay to use. ICON Foundation, ICON DAPPs, etc. could be paid users of such a product. Perhaps this could be a community-governed DAO similar to ICONbet but focused on providing marketing services. Perhaps this project could have its own governance tokens that could be used as an incentive to tweet. Perhaps there could be a revenue share component.
  • Again, we believe this is a good start. Perhaps other P-Reps or ICON community members would help develop, collaborate, or fund this project.
