We’d like to submit a grant application for getting ICON on the Messari Disclosures Registry, which creates a living repository of accurate coverage and up-to-date project information. We recently passed our first community vote, leading to Melon renewing its Registry participation status for two years. We hope to start working together to bring more transparency to the industry, including better data on everything ICON.

Our Registry aims to be a single source of truth for basic cryptoasset information. Participating projects are voluntarily disclosing basic information about their token design, supply details, technology audits, official communication channels, and relevant team members, investors, and advisors. These profiles can then be freely accessed industry-wide, providing a reliable and standardized resource to industry participants.
The Registry is the first open disclosures platform that allows projects to quickly and reliably communicate material updates to their communities and external stakeholders through a single, standardized interface. Messari validates project data and provides free access to disclosures via an open API that allows third-party services to rally around one universal cryptoasset disclosures library.

The primary product included in this offering is the initial creation and ongoing maintenance of an ICON Asset Page on the Messari platform that is continuously refined and updated via a collaboration between the ICON Foundation and a dedicated Messari research analyst.
All information included in the asset page is freely available to the ICON community (and other third parties) via an open API that they can integrate into ICON dedicated wallets, blockexplorers or other platforms.

This process typically takes 2-6 weeks, but the overall timeline would be greatly dependent on the ICON Foundation’s responsiveness.
Onboarding milestones include:
- Complete the data application with necessary disclosures
- Respond to validator questions or concerns
5. Value for ICON
Registry participation acts as a single source for all stakeholders with third party validation, which also leads to simplification of exchange/wallet diligence. We have partnered with a number of platforms to facilitate their token onboarding diligence such as Switcheo (publicly announced) as well as a number of top 10 global exchanges, custodians, and wallets in a confidential manner. ICON can also engage directly with the market through Messari’s official channels to help educate the broader community on the nuances of what ICON is building. These channels include our newsfeed, newsletter, podcast, and Telegram group where we conduct project AMAs.
Above all else, participation pushes the entire crypto ecosystem towards transparency and healthy growth.
6. Funding Amount Requested
All projects participating in the Registry pay the same price ($10,000 annually) for the same product to ensure full standardization and transparency on the platform, but to be more flexible while we finalize the future structure with third party validators, this can be paid either once annually or in parts semi-annually or quarterly in USD, BTC, or ETH.
